Michael Brewer is the Chief Executive Officer of Blue Ridge Consulting Group, LLC and its Managing Consultant. His particular area of expertise is human resources with a specific focus on personnel administration, including job descriptions, position classification plans, personnel policies and compensation analysis. He also has extensive background in project management and website design. Since 1986, he has been employed with the Butts County Board of Commissioners. During his tenure, he has held several upper level management positions including Director of Communications, Director of Homeland Security, County Clerk, Personnel Administrator, Director of County Operations and currently, Deputy County Administrator for Operations, where he oversees county operations, human resources, special projects and public relations, functioning as second in charge of the County Government Administration.
He was honored as the first recipient in his profession to receive the Governor's Public Safety Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Profession. He was also the recipient of the Excellence in Community Service Award presented by the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Shining Light Award from the Chamber of Commerce. Most recently, in 2008, he received the Butts County Citizen of the Year award from the Chamber of Commerce. He is an active participant in his local community and his particular interests include education and healthcare. He serves on the boards of several organizations, particularly those charged with early childhood and adult educational institutions. He is a life-long member of the Jackson United Methodist Church, he is currently working towards becoming a Certified Lay Minister. He serves his church at Lay Leader, Senior Liturgist and Chairman of Staff Parish Relations. On the District level, he has been appointed to serve on the Board of Ordained Ministry and is a 2008 Graduate of Leadership UMC of the North Georgia Conference, United Methodist Church.
He chartered BRCG with his wife, Lara who is also his business partner. He also is a past Director with Fresh Air Barbecue of Athens, a family-owned restaurant chain in Athens Georgia. He is a native of Jackson, Georgia and he and his wife have one child.
